After earning his degree, Karl worked for several years as a teacher and athletic coach.
Looking to expand his opportunities, in 1979 he took a summer job at Nationwide Insurance Company.
He soon transitioned into a fulltime position. First as a Claims Examiner and then a Claims Representative.
In 1981 Karl began working with American States. He became a Field Adjuster handling all types of third and first party claims, including property estimating as well as third party liability investigations.
He met with individuals and negotiated claims directly with claimants, as well as with attorneys.
Karl handled everything from minor claims to significant litigated matters.
Karl then assumed the role of Claims Manager at Independent Adjusters, Inc.
In addition to managing a staff of adjusters, Karl continued to handle significant claims.
Karl was hired as Vice President of Claims for Florida International Indemnity Company.
He supervised a claims staff handling nonstandard automobile claims and large commercial property claims.
He directly managed all litigation cases, including all mediations and trials.
Karl has handled hundreds of mediations in his career.
He has attended and overseen a like number of trials.
Karl then became Claim Manager for several national auto carriers, including Budget Rent a Car.
Karl worked for the City of Orlando Risk Management Department.
He handled both non-litigated and litigated cases.
This included both mediations and trials at the state and federal level.
Karl comes to Voelpel Claim Service with a vast amount of experience in a wide range of claim disciplines. Karl now specializes in mediations and trials. He brings a long career of experience to providing significant results for carriers. He also works to provide comprehensive digital and social media background investigations into claimants in order to provide carriers with a more complete understanding, which is needed in today's complex environment.
